Our Beliefs

Statement of Faith

The following statements represent the doctrinal convictions upon which Zion Theological Seminary was founded and upon which all instruction is grounded.

I

God the Father, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit

We believe in the one true God, the Father Almighty, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the work of the Holy Spirit.

II

The Cross of Christ

We confess that salvation is only possible through the cross of Jesus Christ. Without His sacrifice, there is no redemption, no forgiveness, and no eternal hope. The power of the cross is the center of our faith and the foundation of our salvation.

III

Sola Scriptura

We stand upon Sola Scriptura — the conviction that the Holy Scriptures alone, the 66 books of the Bible, are the inspired and final authority for faith and doctrine. The Word of God is the root of all truth and the standard by which all teaching must be measured.

IV

Grace Alone

We believe in His grace alone as the means by which we are saved, not by works, but by the mercy and love of God revealed in Christ Jesus.

V

The One True Gospel

We affirm that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only true Gospel. Therefore, if anyone preaches another gospel, contrary to the one revealed in Scripture, we hold firm to the biblical warning: let him be accursed (anathema).

VI

Doers of the Word

We also believe that we are called not to be mere hearers of the Word, but doers of it — living in obedience and truth. The Gospel is not to be used for personal gain or earthly desires, but embraced with humility, surrender, and reverence.

VII

Watchfulness and Readiness

We are called to live each day as if Jesus Christ will return at any moment — watchful, faithful, and committed to His will.

VIII

Love for All, Even Enemies

We also believe that we must love even our enemies, never responding with persecution, but with love, forgiveness, and blessing. As the Apostle Peter exhorts us, we are called to defend our faith with gentleness, respect, and a Christlike spirit.

IX

Our Foundation

Our faith is anchored in truth, grounded in Scripture, centered on the cross, and led by the Holy Spirit.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16–17
